Calling this a food truck park is a bit of a misnomer, but is is the best description I have. It is unlike any other food truck experience I have been to. Imagine you wanted to own a casual restaurant and bar, complete with indoor seating, outdoor seating with fireplace, and a full bar, and then outsource the whole kitchen to food trucks! That’s what you get with 35 North – a place to go, rain or shine, with 3 or 4 food trucks present, and the lineup changes all the time.
Where is it?
35 North is in Farragut on Kingston Pike (Route 11). It is just a couple minutes west from Honeybee Coffee, and across the street from the French Market Creperie’s west location. They have ample parking on site for their guests.
When is 35 North open?
The hours are Sunday and Monday 11a – 10p, Tuesday through Thursday 11a – 11p, and Friday and Saturday 11a – midnight.
What you need to know about visiting:
This place is a great experience. We have been to several food truck parks and food truck festivals, but this is the first time I have seen this concept. A dedicated indoor space complete with full bar, and an upscale outdoor area, all while having a rotating selection of food trucks so that you can’t help but come back to try something new seems like a great idea!
How It Works
Enter through either the back, front, or you can just stroll up to the covered food truck section on the side. Place your order with whatever truck you want and pay. They’ll give you a color-coded number stand to put on your table. Go grab a seat or a drink, and a 35 North employee will bring you your food when it is ready! No waiting around, fighting the crowds at the trucks.
Overall, we had plenty of food for 2 people and spent about $30 (but we didn’t get alcohol this time). We had a fast, seamless experience, and we can’t wait to go back in nicer patio weather.
The Space
When you arrive, you can grab whatever open table you like. We went on a Friday night that was a bit rainy, so the inside was filling up fast. That’s not to say it isn’t large – the indoors consists of 3 spaces. The bar seating area has TVs viewable from every angle playing sports, with tables and couches in an outer ring flanking the bar. There’s room for about 20 at the bar, and an additional 15 around the edge.
The middle section has tables and booths, a plush chair area, and a vendor station (sushi, when we were there) and TVs on the walls – seating for 40.
The lower section has garage doors that open to the food truck and outdoor seating areas. It has regular tables for 24.
The rear patio space has umbrella’d tables and an outdoor fireplace with room for well over 70 people (see the first set of pictures in this article). There is also a section of covered outdoor seating at the front entrance (facing Kingston Pike) for about 30 people.
The Food
I can’t say too much about the menu – it is changing all the time! When we went, there were 3 trucks outside: M3 (Meatball Madness and More), The Mac Truck, and Just Say Queso. Blackie Chan Sushi was also set up inside. We had the Mahi Mahi Po Boy from The Mac Truck, the Hawaiian burrito from M3, and sweet chips from Just Say Queso. It was all good, but the winner (and hence, the photo) was hands down the Hawaiian burrito – 10/10 would recommend.
