Random Precision Brewing

Where is Random Precision Brewing?

Random Precision is located along Route 161 in Northwest Columbus (Linworth), just a couple minutes from the intersection with 315. Locals will recognize it directly across the street from JT’s Pizza and shouting distance from the Crafty Pint. Parking isn’t typically an issue, as it has its own small lot.

When is it open?

As of this writing, Random Precision is open Wednesday and Thursday 4p-10p, Friday 4p-midnight, Saturday noon-midnight, and Sunday noon-8p. HOWEVER, right now last call is at 9:58 (yes, they posted that time) as current legislation prohibits the sale of alcohol after 10p. After last call, they ask that you head out around 11. It is closed Monday and Tuesday. To stay up-to-date, check out their Instagram (@rpbsours) or their website.

The Menu - What Are They Known For?

Random Precision is an all wild and sour brewery, and you can clearly tell that this is what they excel at. Let me be the first to admit that I am not a “sours guy” – I keep trying them, and so far the sour trend falls short for me compared to the barrel-aged and hazy-IPA trends. That is not to say you won’t have a tasty time here if you share the same tastes as me; quite the contrary! They have a little something for everybody, from being able to recommend what wild beers can “ease you in”, to having beer, wine, and cocktail options that aren’t sour at all. So fear not those of you with weird tastes, bring your more mild friends and have a good time.

What's the space like?

The space feels clean and down-to-earth, just a simple space with lots of long tables and wood accents. I would even say you feel like you are “part of the brewery” as you sit right in front of a whole bunch of barrels where the beers are aging. I’m no interior decorator, but I know a well done, trendy subway tile bar when I see one! There is even some local art for sale on one wall and merch on the opposite wall, behind the bar, for true fans.

Our Experience

After a couple visits here, my favorite so far is the Iconic 96 Pineapple IPA. It is a beer they started brewing in conjunction with local QFM 96 radio station, donating a portion of the proceeds to a charity focused on veterans and first responders. As for the beer, I can say it is very refreshing on a hot day. Be sure to drink this heavily fruited beer fresh, ‘cuz that bad boy is turning into wine if you wait!

If you’re in the mood to try some unique brews, I’d recommend the $10 flight Wednesdays – a pretty great deal for beer that takes a lot to brew.
