The Menu - What Are They Known For?
You can find all your favorite coffee styles here: espresso drinks, pour overs, drip, and teas. Remedy advertises its fondness for serving Intelligentsia coffee, but also has roasts from Black and White Coffee Roasters for pour overs. If you are looking for something a little more unique, try out their pear cider (with house-made syrup). You can also find a selection of baked goods and other drinks (including beer) at the bar.
What's the space like?
When approaching the building, it is immediately evident that it is right beside a graveyard, which was perfect for our visit near Halloween (otherwise known as spooky szn). Other than that, the exterior is unassuming. However, upon entering, it feels bright and open, yet somehow still cozy. The combination of whitewashed brick, subway tiles, and green plants all over the place give a clean and crisp impression. The open rafters give plenty of breathing room, and the unique lighting choices did not go unnoticed at the bar. Wooden tables and barn door accents gave a “home-y” feel to the space, not allowing the bright and sunny shop to feel sterile. The style of menu on the wall behind the bar is one we have noticed as popular in the area (placard letters on wooden planks), and is just as aesthetic here.
Is it a good work space?
Yes, there are plenty of seating options. Remedy takes social distancing seriously – we noticed right away that all the seats were pre-spaced apart, which is not always the case at coffee shops right now. Even with this “restriction”, there were about 24 seats in the shop, making it small-to-mid size in the area. There is tall table seating, lots of long, regular height tables, and a sun-soaked more plush seating area in the front. Wifi is available and password protected, though an open Xfinity guest wifi was being broadcast from somewhere nearby as well. Plugs are available along the perimeter for those needing power. The shops hours are conducive to anyone looking to put in a regular workday.
Our Experience
On our visit, we got a campfire cappuccino which tastes like brown sugar and vanilla, but with the uncommon addition of smoke salt, which was noticeable and pleasant but not overpowering. We also had a regular coffee on drip, which definitely had bright and fruity characteristics. Of course, we couldn’t pass up on a cinnamon roll, which was good and tasted like biscuit dough. It was a productive work experience. The two drinks and cinnamon roll ran about $11, not bad for current coffee shop prices in the area.
