Where is Temperance Row?
Located in uptown Westerville along N. State St., in the block between W. Main and E. Home, TRBC is across the street from Whit’s Frozen Custard and just North of Espresso Air Coffee Terminal. The State St. storefront houses Uptown Deli and Brew, while the back of the shop (Guitner Alley) houses the brewpub. Having both establishments under one roof lends itself to creating a delicious food and beverage pairing experience.
Parking couldn’t be more convenient – a large public parking lot sits right behind the brewery.
When is it open?
Uptown Deli and Brew/TRBC is open Sunday through Thursday 11a-10p, Friday and Saturday 11a-midnight. They also have a great biergarten/patio out back for the warmer months. You can order food, growlers, and cocktails for pickup as well. For updates, check them out at on their website or on Instagram (@temperancerowbrewingco).
The Menu - What Are They Known For?
As you would guess, an upscale deli with a brewery in back packs tons of flavor options. The deli is known for its soups, salads, and sandwiches; the brewery spans the beer spectrum from IPAs to stouts. In my experience, they stray towards the IPA and pale ale varieties more than dark beer, but have some enjoyable malty beers in between, such as the Fox’s Tail English Ale, Oktoberfest, and even a Watermelon Wheat. On our last trip in on a beautiful sunny day, they ran out of 2 different IPAs, showing their local popularity.
That doesn’t stop them from throwing options like a Scottish ale and a porter into the mix, even having options available on Nitro. I have yet to see a sour or barrel-aged option come from TRBC – maybe next visit! You can take their beer home by growler. Something to note – for those who have order growlers to go and have a bunch sitting around, in the past they have bought back their own TRBC growlers for $2 each (up to 4 growlers per order) or credited that refund towards your purchase. Be sure to check with them at the time of your order for details.
For those who prefer a different palate, they have a wines and cocktails as well. You can even add a reusable tumbler to your to-go cocktail for $5. Of course, you shouldn’t sleep on the food: they do a lot of things well, but lately they have been serving up charcuterie boards that look to-die-for!
What's the space like?
This is what you could categorize as a LARGE space: there is ample seating to eat or throw a few back in the inner dining area, with booths, tables for small or large parties. and bar seating looking back at TVs and brewing equipment beyond that. There’s even a standing-room-only shelf for the wall behind the bar, a feature I am sure does not go unnoticed on popular nights. On top of that, there is open storefront seating at the front of the deli, looking out at State Street, and a huge fenced-in area out back behind the pub.
The front of the shop has a clean aesthetic with well-lit menus and display cases that make the casual passer-by want to grab something on the way home. The inner area pays homage to the town’s past, with black-and-white photos all over the walls, accented by glowing Edison bulbs and TRBC logo. The back biergarten is our pick for sun-soaked days, with plenty of seating and umbrellas for shade.
Our Experience
We have been to Temperance Row multiple times, and haven’t been disappointed. Last time, we enjoyed a smoked salmon salad and an Italian sub, both of which we’d recommend. I have tried a few of their beers, and opted for a London pale ale after they were out of their hazy IPA options. I would order it again – tasted like a lager that wanted to grow up to be an IPA. You pay for what you get with TRBC, which is to say a quality experience – about $40 for two meals, a beer, and tip.
The overall package of food, drinks and atmosphere makes this a good date night spot or place to hit on-the-go if you find yourself in Uptown Westerville.

About Temperance Row Brewing Co.
If you’re like me, you’re wondering where that name came from. Over 100 years ago, Westerville was home of the Anti-Saloon League, and was a dry town. The area where they lived became know as Temperance Row. Now, the area ironically houses the first brewery in Westerville.
