The Coffee Run – Halls

Where is it?

The Coffee Run is in the Crippen Gap area in the Halls community, north of Knoxville. The storefront is in the plaza beside The Grove Church. It is on the left side of US-441 (Maynardville Pike). Or, said differently, you’ll probably want to be heading south to make a right turn into the plaza.

The store is on the left side of the plaza. There is a ton of parking, so no worries there.

When is it open?

The shop is open Monday through Friday 7a – 4p, Saturday 8a – 4p, closed Sunday. Keep up with them on Instagram @thecoffeerun865. They also have a coffee truck that runs around town, mostly to local schools at the moment.

The Menu - What Are They Known For?

This shop has any of the coffee drinks you could want, plus goodies like local pastries. In my opinion, the best and most unique thing about this shop is the coffee flight!  I have only seen this at a couple other shops in my travels, and they might do it the best that I’ve seen.

Quaint little mason jars provide a generous size of each of 4 drinks that you pick. The drinks can be nearly anything, but they have a basic list of about 10 drinks to get you started. At $10, this is a steal and is more than enough to share.

I also noticed that they have all the drinks to slick your sweet tooth, including Ferroro Rocher and Rocky Top lattes. On our first visit, they were just about to roll out a bourbon aged cold brew, something that is pretty unique in the coffee realm – I will definitely be back to try it out.

What's the space like?

The layout is simple but spacious and well-decorated. As you walk in, you are immediately facing the coffee bar but there is a large amount of seating in between. There are a couple comfy bean bags up front, then 7 tables with 4 seats (some bench style, some chairs) and 8 stool seats, bar-style along one wall. In the rear, there is a couch, rounding out the seating at 40 spots.

Is it a good work space?

You can definitely sit down and get to work at The Coffee Run. The only seating option I didn’t see was extra tall tables, for those who like to stand and work a bit. Other than that, there are plenty of tables to make your desk away from home and fast wifi. They were playing Christian gospel music at a noticeable level during our visit. There are power outlets along the perimeter.

The Coffee Run Coffee Flight 2

Our Experience

We got the coffee flight, in which we selected their cold brew, cappuccino, iced chai latte, and iced caramel macchiatto. The latter was just the right amount of sweet, the chai was delicious, and the cold brew was a good strength. We also got an iced Ferroro Rocher latte – very good and extra sweet. In total, we spent $15 (before tip).

We put in a small work session and even got a chance to talk to one of the owners, Hillary! She was very welcoming and said that their mission is to serve the community and be a place that folks from Halls (and beyond) can come to be together.
